Advanced Fault Tracing Engineer

The department Electrical Propulsion System (EPS) is responsible for development of all major parts of hybrid and electric vehicle systems as well as sub systems such as batteries, electric drives, power supplies and chargers. Analyse & Verification Diagnose and Fault Tracing, is a group within the department and we are responsible for analysis and verification all EPS's test objects. We also troubleshoot all test object at Volvo Car Group for our service centres globally.

As an Advanced Fault Tracer Engineer you have the responsibility of fault tracing on a complete Hybrid-system level, in production cars, boxcars and in prototype vehicles. You will support during prototype builds and verification activities such as expeditions to identify the root cause for issues in the electrical system. That means that you will work in a wide range of functionalities cross all units in R&D. Since fault tracing often take place during prototype builds, in manufacturing plants and verification expeditions you will need to travel frequently and manage flexible working hours. Another part of the work is to continuously develop working processes, new methods, tools and fault tracing procedures.

Main responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, analyse and execute fault tracing on cars, box cars and prototype vehicles
• Participate in prototype builds and verification expeditions
• Document and communicate root cause and/or relevant information on problems identified to responsible design area
• Participate in resolving identified issues
• Cooperate with the design team for hybrid systems
• Participation in task force project as analysis competence
• Analyse the test result and give proposals on how to improve design
• Evaluation of debugging and analysis tools related to 94000 tool platform
• Reviews of system solutions
• Own expeditions, PKE-testing, PKV-expeditions
• Testing of new development tools
• Back-office/education map troubleshooting at the press runs, new car launches, redevelopment

Required qualifications

• Knowledge of electrical architecture, signal configuration, communication, diagnosis and software-download
• Whole-vehicle knowledge including functionality
• Good English skills, spoken and written
• Driver's license B
• Additional skills in systems such as INCA, Optolyzer, LINspector, DHA, SDA, multimeter/scopemeter, Canalyzer, Matlab and Simulink is meritorious
