The section Strategy and Concept within the department Complete Powertrain Engineering is responsible for developing concepts and system solutions for propulsion systems including hybrid systems in Volvo Car Corporation vehicles. The section consists of about 34 persons working with systems engineering, concept development, advanced engineering projects and CAE simulations for the properties driveability and performance as well as Powertrain energy consumption.
As Advanced Engineering Leader and System Developer your main task is to lead technical cross functional AE-projects within Complete Powertrain Engineering thru all project development phases. Example of AE-projects are different types of CO2 reduction technologies, such as KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and electrical/hybrid concepts. The AE-leader/developer operates both as a leader and executer and leads the innovation process as well as Annual and AE-tasks.
We are now heading towards an exciting phase with many highly interesting projects about to be kicked off. Therefore we are reinforcing our team with an additional AE-project leader/system developer.
Main responsibilities
• Develop and deliver planned AE-projects for upcoming CPE programs, in line with the business goals of 2020, and thereby strengthen Volvo Car Corporations' competitiveness
• Plan and lead the sections part in the Annual and AE-process
• Challenge the organization and existing technology solutions
Required qualifications
• Master of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
• 5-10 years of experience in developing powertrains
• Experience from all product development phases (advanced engineering, concept, industrialisation, quality, aftermarket)
• Good knowledge of powertrain (powertrain controls, engine, transmission, hybrid, powertrain installations)
• Good knowledge of the energy processes in combustion engines and hybrid powertrains
• Good knowledge of energy consumption for propelling a vehicle
• Experience and good understanding of systems engineering
• Huge interest in cars and powertrains
• Fluent in English, both oral and written
• Drivers license (B)
