The Faculty of Medicine is a part of Lund University, and is responsible for education and research within medicine and healthcare. Job assignment: Parkinson's Disease (PD) is the 2nd most common neurodegenerative disease in the world.

Amplification of the gene encoding alpha-synuclein has been linked to higher risk of contracting PD. The goal of this project is to setup cell lines and techniques, that will allow study of alpha-synuclein aggregation in nerve cell lines. This process is interesting as alpha-synuclein aggregation is believed to be toxic for neurons, and could well be one of the major reason for the loss of dopaminergic neurons in PD.

Qualifications: The candidate should have obtained a masters degree in molecular biology or related field. For the project assistant to be able to readily contribute to these studies he/she should be experienced with the following techniques: Cellomics, FACS, Virus production and transduction of cell lines, cloning, mammallian cell culture, transfection, immunocytochemistry and immunoflourescence. Furthermore it is appreciable if the project assistant is knowledgeable in the field of PD and alpha-synuclein biology.

Terms of employment: Temporary position for 2 month's.
