Combustion Systems develops the optimized functionality in the control systems for Exhaust after treatment system for the different products of the Volvo Group. This covers the whole chain from hardware related parameters, electric hardware parameters, sensor parameters, engine controls parameters (air and fuel injection) function, diagnostic parameters and functional testing in these areas.
The Group, FIE & EATS Auxiliary systems, is a dynamic group that has to test functionality and do calibration for environmental targets (legislation and internal demands). The developments of after treatment for engines (catalysts) are in an expansive phase.
The group is a team of 13 people, we are now looking for a person for leading the application work (calibration) for Aftertreatment Control Module (ACM) and Urea dosing system (UDS) to ensure that the environmental targets (emissions), customer targets and hardware limitation are fulfilled on engines and in vehicles.
The job involves extensive contacts with other groups within the department as well as external contacts with people from other areas and other Volvo companies. You will work in close cooperation with the other members of the Aftertreatment and Engine /Vehicle team, and there are possibilities for networking with people on all levels of the company.
Working as a Application Engineer at Powertrain Engineering:
• As an application engineer the main focus of the work is to coordinate and to optimize ACM & UDS functions to meet Emissions target
• Perform UDS system application work and verify complete system functionality including diagnostic methods.
• Develop and verify methods for testing UDS components and systems in test benches and on vehicles.
• The work is performed in test-cell environment as well as in office for simulations and documentation.
• A part of the application work is also performed in vehicle on expeditions where we seek extreme ambient conditions like heat, high altitude or cold climate
• Define and propose improved technical solutions (HW, SW and calibration) and present them to

• Strong ability to work in cross functional teams as well as being able to work independently
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Structured way of working
• Committed, driven and engaged
• Experience from Engine calibration or EATS application work and a genuine interest for engines is a benefit.
• Masters of Science in Engineering or equivalent
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
