Responsibilities
Effectively manage and organize the academics within the school (under the Principal and Assistant Principal), including curriculum planning and implementation of academic policies and routines
Secure high-quality teaching, learning and assessment - effective teacher development
Support staff and students to meet the highest academic expectations
Support the Principal with the school's systematic quality work
Support the Principal and IES Head Office with other academic initiatives/projects
Support all staff in the use and application of SchoolSoft
Coordinate the organization of the national tests
Coordinate and implement established routines for staff and students
Observe, advise and assist staff
Be a resource and support for members of the department
Set specific goals for the department and classroom leadership goals
Continually review and analyze student progress towards national knowledge requirements
Ensure that the departmental local course outline/syllabus is up to date and followed by the teaching staff
Oversee the yearly department budgets
Delegate tasks which are to be completed by the department
Required Competencies
Knowledge
Strong understanding of the IES vision, ethos and values
A thorough Curriculum knowledge
Strong pedagogical knowledge in relation to teaching, learning, formative assessment and grading
Understanding of "Skollagen" in relation to teaching and assessment
Skills
Strong teaching and classroom management skills
Leadership and management skills
Coaching and Team Building skills
Process management skills relevant to the systems in use across the school including strong and creative IT skills
Swedish language skills are an advantage
Behaviours

Desired Qualifications/Experience
Qualified teacher from either abroad or Sweden. If from abroad - university teaching education. If from Sweden - "Lärarlegitimation"
Several years teaching experience with proven results, preferably within an IES school
Head of Department/Leadership experience is preferable
Experience of working well with others or as part of a team
Excellent reference from current Principal as prerequisite
