The research group of Zoonotic Ecology and Epidemiology at Linnaeus University now seeks a postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in statistics and analysis of time series.

The research project will investigate spatial and temporal dynamics of influenza A virus infections in wild waterfowl in Sweden. A 10 year long time series of individual infection histories is available, providing a unique opportunity to model influenza disease dynamics using capture-mark-recapture techniques. Specifically, we want to address (1) the effects of infection on host health, (2) temporal virus dynamics at a major migratory stopover site, and (3) spatial-temporal dynamics in a flyway perspective. The successful applicant will develop capture-mark-recapture models and be part of a team studying influenza A virus disease dynamics. The project is a collaboration between Linnaeus University, Sweden, and CIRAD, France.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in a subject area of relevance for the present project, such as statistical and mathematical modeling in epidemiology and population dynamics, Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential. Documented experience with capture-mark-recapture methods is strongly recommended.

The position is available for two years, but may be extended upon mutual interest and availability of funds. We offer excellent working conditions, a competitive income, and an opportunity to develop your career in a dynamic environment. The position is located in Kalmar.
