A Post-Doc researcher in Applied Biochemistry/Biotechnology specialized in Drug Discovery
Linnaeus University is the result of a merger between Kalmar University and Växjö University. Together we will be creating a new, exciting university with 31 000 students and 2 000 employees. Linnaeus University will be a modern, international university in the Småland region of Sweden, where people can grow to reach their potential. For more information see: Lnu.se
The School of Natural Sciences is part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The research activities within this multidisciplinary school include the areas of Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Organic Chemistry, Marine Ecology, Mathematics, Microbiology and Physics.
The applied biochemistry research group seeks one Post Doctoral researcher for studies within the area of drug discovery. The position is for two years, with a possible extension.
Project title: Transient binding mono/multi-target drugs: A new approach for drug discovery
The research project: The project aims to introduce and develop analytical technology based on miniaturized affinity separations for transient/weak recognition of drug-like molecules to mono/multiple drug receptor. Targets will be receptors that are thought to be involved in the etiology of neurological diseases specially schizophrenia. Mono/multi-target binding leads will be identified and evaluated for biological effect. Results from this work will lead to knowledge of the role of a transient/weak drug candidates and ways to identify them.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical science, medicinal chemistry or similar. Documented training and experience with research in drug discovery and analytical biochemistry especially LC/MS is an advantage. Knowledge of receptor-ligand interactions is well appreciated.
