The Swedish School of Textiles (THS) is the only textiles college in Sweden. The THS offers five different study programmes leading to a bachelor's or master's degree in textiles design, fashion design, hand weaving, textile economics and textile engineering. There are also several shorter courses and a large number of independent courses. The faculty carries out research in textile design, economics, crafts and engineering.

Research in textiles design at The Swedish School of Textiles focuses on developing techniques, methods, and aesthetic perspectives in the design of a new generation of textile products, including textile sound design, dynamic textile patterns, textile interaction design and textile space design.
The doctoral candidate employment beforehand is part of the University's ambition to strengthen practice based research within the textile design area and is directed especially at developing the methodological and design aesthetical foundations of the field.
The research is carried out in close co-operation with national and international research groups. The position will bring substantial possibilities of specialisation within a most attractive research field.
The applicant must hold a Master's degree in textile design, or equivalent. Acceptance is based on the applicant's ability to carry out research training in the field. Excellent command of English, in writing and speech, is also required. A successful applicant will be enrolled in the University of Borås doctoral school for Research in Textile Design (FTD). Exams are Artistic licentiate degree in design (with specialisation in textile design/textile interaction design) and Artistic doctoral degree in design (with specialisation in textile design/textile interaction design).
The position shall, for 80%, be devoted to research studies and dissertation. Remaining hours is devoted to teaching at basic levels and at advanced level in relevant courses, tutoring of degree works and participation in limited external projects and assignments.
