Post-Doc Positions in Cancer Research at Karolinska Institutet
We announce four fulltime post-doc positions at the Linneus Center “Prediction and Prevention of breast cancer and prostate cancer. This Center involves 10 senior researchers from six departments at Karolinska Institutet working together in a multidisciplinary team, ranging from genetics, epidemiology and clinical medicine to systems biology. The Center is funded by the Swedish Research Council for a period of 10 years. The vision of this Linneus Center is to reduce the mortality of breast and prostate cancer through individualised prevention programs. More information:
http://ki.se/ki/jsp/polopoly.jsp?d=25044&l=sv .
The four positions have the following focus:
1. Systems Biology in Cancer
Several highly significant loci for breast and prostate cancer have been identified. We plan to study the molecular biology and functional properties of the genes in a broad, systemic approach. Modern microarrays, proteomics, bioinformatics skills required. For details contact Professor Juha Kere (
juha.kere@ki.se )
2. Psycosocial Oncology
Health-related quality of life evaluation, development of questionnaires assessing risk perception, and attitudes and ethical issues related to screening for breast- and prostate cancer. For details contact Professor Yvonne Brandberg (
Yvonne.Brandberg@ki.se )
3. Cancer Epidemiology
To identify common genetic variants that are associated with prognosis of breast cancer and to evaluate these new markers in the context of available prognostic markers. For details contact Associate Professor Kamila Czene (
kamila.czene@ki.se ) or Professor Per Hall (
per.hall@ki.se )
4. Biostatistics
Development of novel statistical prediction models based on data from non-standard designs and aiming at evaluating screening and intervention strategies. For details contact Professor Juni Palmgren (
juni.palmgren@ki.se )
We anticipate that all junior researchers will work within a network together as a team with more than one senior researcher as their supervisor. One of the post-doc positions will be combined with working as a scientific coordinator for the Centre (50%). Indicate in your application if you are interested in working as the scientific coordinator. Initial appointments will be for 2 years with a possible extension after evaluation.
Please send a letter of application, marked with reference number 5654/2008, the names and contact information of three references and a CV, and brief statement of research goals to e-mail address:
