2 PhD students in Nature Resource Economics
The Department of Forest Economics at the Faculty of Forest Sciences, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), is seeking 2 PhD students in the postgraduate education subject Economics, with specialization in natural resource economics. The successful applicants will work within a larger research program funded by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. The research program aims to develop the theory and methodology for socio-economic consequence analyses related to environmental and natural resource management, with a special emphasis on the Swedish Environmental Goals. The research program involves a series of empirical studies about resource dynamics, uncertainty, monetary as well as non-monetary valuation, and the distributional issues. One of the PhD students will focus on quantification and monetary valuation of ecological services. The other PhD student will analyze the objective conflicts in the forest and agricultural sectors.
Qualifications: Completed university degree at BSc or MSc level; Completed courses in the subject of economics corresponding to at least 90 higher education credits (1.5 years full time study), of which at least one third should be at advanced level; good knowledge of the English language. Good knowledge in economics and statistics are merited.
Form for funding or employment: The employment as a PhD student is for 4 years of postgraduate studies.

A person has basic eligibility for third level education if he or she has taken a second level qualification or has completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, including at least 60 higher education credits at second level. Those who met the requirements for general eligibility before July 1st, 2007, i.e. had completed a programme of higher education for at least 120 credits or the equivalent, will continue to do so until the end of 2015."
