School of Innovation, Design and Engineering
2 PhD students in Computer Science and Software Engineering, with specialization in software modeling and high-performance computing
Mälardalen University (MDH) announces two PhD student positions. School of Innovation, Design and Engineering (IDT) provides an international research-intensive environment with strong focus on Embedded systems and Software Engineering. IDT with its research profiles MRTC and ISS (www.mrtc.mdh.se and
www.iss.mdh.se) is hosting a large number of national and international research projects, in many cases in close collaboration with industrial partners.
Within Embedded Systems we have started a five-year research project ?Ralf3? in which we will develop theories, technologies and tools that support design and development of embedded systems that process large amount of data in real-time using heterogeneous hardware. Our main objective is to provide methods and tools for optimal distribution of software, particular those with heavy calculations and high data rates, on hardware platforms that include CPUs, GPUs and FPGAs, and with respect to important requirements of embedded systems like performance, real-time requirements, and resource utilization. In particular our objective is to model and analyze the solutions in an early phase of the design, to make it possible to take proper design decision early. As a demonstration of the approach an underwater robot recognizing the objects and their distances (by using a stereo camera system) will be used.
