Ericsson's Region IPR and Licensing organization (RIPL) is responsible for Ericsson's global Intellectual Property Rights program and works closely with Ericssons entire R&D to secure technology and intellectual property leadership for Ericsson.

As an innovative company, patent portfolio generation is seen as a major tool in helping Ericsson to achieve its commercial objectives. The company has more than 30,000 granted patents and files more than 1500 new priority applications each year.

Currently, Patent Unit RAN Implementation & Core (PU-RIC) is looking for a talented Patent Paralegal to strengthen our patent activities in Kista (Sweden). PU-RIC belongs to the Patent Development part of the RIPL organization which incorporates 9 Patent Units in Sweden, Canada, Germany, England and US and some other smaller offices worldwide. PU-RIC is responsible for building and maintaining a competitive patent portfolio in the Radio as well as in the Core Network area.

As a Patent Paralegal at Ericsson you will have a variety of tasks and chances to grow in an international environment with opportunities to exchange views and experiences with colleagues in other countries. As one of 5 Patent Paralegals at PU-RIC you will independently manage administrative matters in the patent process like receiving Inventive Ideas, filing and handling Patent Applications to grant world-wide. It includes supervising and registering of terms in our database, for all steps in the patenting process, handling mail and invoices and working with our electronic archive etc. You will also have the possibility to contribute to a continuous improvement of our working processes.

You will be assigned an existing docket of applications, where external attorney firms are involved in the majority of the cases. Cases that are drafted in-house are also filed in-house by the Patent Paralegal at e.g. the EPO or PRV. Consequently, an excellent working relationship must be established with intellectual property representatives and colleagues within the global RIPL organization.

Apart from close cooperation with patent attorneys you will independently handle correspondence with external attorney firms and inventors at Ericsson and also have contacts with other Ericsson Patent Units around the world. Some general administrative tasks and support to patent attorneys and the patent unit are also included.

Qualifications:

• At least high school (Gymnasium).
• At least 5 years of experience from a patent department or attorney firm and being familiar with patent data registration and the Microsoft Office package.
• Good knowledge of European and international patent administration practice and legally required formalities.
• Good language skills, especially in English.
• Good team working skills.

Personal skills:

• Be highly motivated, with the ability to pro-actively organize their workload.
• Be focused, with an attention for detail that is balanced by common sense and strong analytical skills.
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate comfortably at all levels within the Company, and personnel from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
• Display a 'hands-on' flexible approach to problems and demands, with the ability to thrive on challenge and react quickly and positively to a fast-moving environment.
