Currently, the Patent Development part of Ericsson's IPR and Licensing organization is looking for a talented Patent Attorney to strengthen our patent activities in Kista. The Patent Development organization incorporates 9 major offices (patent units) in Sweden, Canada, Germany, England and US and some other smaller offices worldwide.

A Patent Attorney within the Patent Development organization is responsible for all aspects of patent generation and management, including coordination of external attorneys globally and advice on the commercial application of our patents. In addition to evaluating new patent ideas, drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications, the candidate will also be responsible for creation of patent portfolios and cooperate with Licensing and Business Management units to commercialize our patents. Consequently, an excellent working relationship must be established with colleagues within the whole global IPR and Licensing organization, where Patent Development plays a very important part, as well as inventors and R&D colleagues.

The current Patent Attorney position is within Patent Unit RAN Implementation & Core (PU-RIC). PU-RIC is responsible for building and maintaining a competitive patent portfolio in the Radio as well as in the Core Network area.

The tasks will e.g. include:
• identification of patentable inventions
• evaluating, drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications
• handle oppositions and invalidations
• actively promote and create awareness of patenting/licensing within Ericsson
• handle questions from the R&D organization regarding IPR matters.
• create, develop and maintain patent portfolios in cooperation with Strategy & Portfolio Management
• investigate licensing and divestment possibilities in co-operation with Licensing and Business Management

Why a Patent Attorney career with Ericsson is special:
• At Ericsson, attorneys have ownership of applications throughout their life-cycle.
• You will develop your commercial appreciation of IP as patents are filed with the intention that they shall be used (e.g. licensed) and the company is actively engaged in developing technology standards.
• You will work independently with a chance to become a specialist in your technology area.
• You will work in an international environment with opportunity to exchange views and experiences with colleagues in other countries

Qualifications:
• You have an MSc. degree in telecommunications or similar.
• You have good knowledge of technologies in the telecommunications field, preferably within Radio (e.g. WCDMA/LTE), but also Core (e.g. Cloud -, Broadband-, and/or IP Technology) is relevant.
• Preferably you have patent attorney skills, particularly drafting, although experience of other relevant areas such as claim charting will also be of interest. If you have passed the EQE exam it is a plus.
• Preferebly you have excellent knowledge of European and international patent law and practice.
• You have a commercial sense of IP.
