About the department of Mathematical Sciences
The department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology is the largest mathematics department in Sweden with about 200 employees. The department has three scientific divisions, Algebra and Geometry, Analysis and Probability Theory, and Applied Mathematics and Statistics.
We have an international environment with frequent exchanges with other universities around the world. The department provides a creative and supportive atmosphere with a steady flow of international guests. There are many committed teachers with extensive and broad experience of all aspects of higher education.
More information about us can be found on our website:
http://www.chalmers.se/math/ At the Division of Algebra and geometry, we conduct research at a high international level in areas such algebraic geometry, complex analysis, number theory and representation theory. We are now looking for a project assistant strengthening our research in complex analysis.
Job description
The specific subject of the research position is to study vector bundles with singular metrics, in particular in connection with L2-methods. This is nowadays standard techniques for line bundles, but the case with higher rank bundles offers significant new problems and is not well studied. One goal is to find new existence results for the dbar-equation and for holomorphic sections. You are expected to collaborate with the project leader Elizabeth Wulcan, as well as other members of the group in complex analysis at the department.
Contract terms
Temporary employment for one year (360 days).
Qualifications
The candidate must have a PhD in mathematics. In addition, knowledge of classical L2-methods in complex analysis and pluripotential theory is required. Familiarity with multivariable residue theory and commutative algebra is also meritorious.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.
