Aquatic geochemistry - reference values
Reference values for lake water quality are often defined as preindustrial conditions estimated by geochemical models or paleolimnological reconstructions from sediments. As a PhD student you will compare such reference values with changes in fish populations and historical land use to better understand how different kinds of human impact such as acid deposition and land use changes have affected lake water quality. The outcome of the study will be relevant for setting credible targets for environmental management and to better understand how natural changes and human impact will affect water quality in the future.
Qualifications
Applicants should hold an MSc in geochemistry, soil or environmental sciences, or equivalent. Experience of evaluation of water- and/or soil-related monitoring data and geochemical modeling are merits. The application should include your Curriculum Vitae, a short description of relevant experience and your specific interest in the position, copies of degree certificates from higher education, relevant publications, and contact information for at least two references.

Those who met the requirements for general eligibility before July 1st, 2007, i.e. had completed a programme of higher education for at least 180 Higher education credits or the equivalent, will continue to do so until the end of 2015."
Selection among applicants meeting the requirements is made with reference to written application including curriculum vitae, copies of degrees and transcripts of academic records, one copy of the dissertation for masters or undergraduate degree, a list of at least two references familiar with the applicant's qualifications, certified knowledge of the English language and an interview.
