Motorola Mobility Converged Experiences Software Solutions software suite Dreamgallery enables operators to offer cloud-based video services to their subscribers. Our team of engineers support customers, development teams, product management and sales. The Systems Engineer will interact with all parties, understand needs, outline solutions and act as a catalyst for finding solutions and educating others. Systems Engineer will translate plans and solution proposals into working software and respond to customer demand whilst ensuring products remain technically coherent.
This role will work with everything from the graphical user interface to integration with other server systems and customized solutions, with ability view and test the work in progress on TV screen or other devices. Some international travelling is required.
Scope of Responsibility / Expectations
• Support development teams in developing robust, modular, efficient, high quality software
• Drive analysis and design efforts together with customer, teams and product management
• Support product management in defining the technical scope of development efforts
• Analyse customer system setup and see how this can be integrated with Dreamgallery in a robust and scalable way
• Work with scalability of the product both with regards to the number of devices that can be served from the servers as well as the scale of the number of people able to develop the product concurrently.
• Write, or aid in writing various specifications required
Preferred Specific Knowledge and Skills
• A university degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or similar
• 5+ years of work experience
• Strong communication skills
• Good working knowledge of Java
• Strong object oriented skills (analysis, design and implementation)
• Experienced in various methods of systems integration
• Experience of unit testing, test driven development, Scrum and other agile methods
• Experience of working in embedded environments, with client applications, XML, databases, Hibernate ORM and Spring Framework desired
• Ability to see the ?big picture? and quickly grasps technical concepts and complex systems
• Excellent command of English language
• Personal drive to share knowledge and learn together
• Able to work independently
• Inquisitive and resilient
