Junior Scientific Expert to European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control
Work Description
We are searching for a Junior Scientific Expert for our client, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in Solna.
Task:
The person shall be requested to perform various tasks including:
•
* Assist with the further development and implementation of surveillance systems in Europe
* Assist with the detection and assessment of emerging threats in the EU-responding to communicable diseases threats
* Assist ECDC experts in providing support to member states in responding to communicable disease threats
* Assist in monitoring and administration of ECDC-funded project
* Contribute to further development of external quality assurance systems and of other microbiological projects
* Support the units in the establishment of closer links between ECDC and national/international bodies, other relevant networks, partners and stakeholders
* Assist in designing and preparing training for Member States experts
* Perform any other tasks as required
* Contribute to the developing of communication output
* Assist with the design and administration of capacity support activities, so that country needs are met.
* Support the development of training needs assessment tools and mapping of other European training resources in the field of communicable disease prevention and control.
* Provide support to the further development of the ECDC continuous professional development programme (CPDP).
You will get an employment as a consultant with Manpower. The assignment is to start in mid-March until the end of July with possible extension up to the total length of 12 months. The role is for full-time.
Competences and experience
?
* Good command of written and spoken English.
* Experience in project management, planning, monitoring and evaluation.
* International experience in the area of communicable disease prevention and control, with focus on training.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong inter-personal skills and ability to work well in a team.
* Service-oriented and result-oriented personality.
* Education at university level
* Knowledge of MS Office
* Good sense of accuracy and attention to detail

* Professional experience (including traineeships) is advantageous
