Work Description
We are searching for a Junior Scientific Expert for our client, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in Solna.
Task:
The person shall be requested to perform various tasks including:
* Assist with the further development and implementation of surveillance systems in Europe
* Assist with the detection and assessment of emerging threats in the EU-responding to communicable diseases threats
* Assist ECDC experts in providing support to member states in responding to communicable disease threats
* Contribute to further development of external quality assurance systems and of other microbiological projects
* Support the units in the establishment of closer links between ECDC and national/international bodies, other relevant networks, partners and stakeholders
* Assist in monitoring and administration of ECDC-funded project
* Assist in designing and preparing training for Member States experts
* Contribute to the developing of communication output
* Perform any other tasks as required
* Contribute to the collection, validation, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of data
* Communicate routine surveillance data in a timely manner via peer-reviewed publications, presentations at conferences, ECDC reports and web content
* Develop and support projects (especially in the area of vaccine-preventable diseases and participate in routine epidemic intelligence activities)
* Assist with liaising with national and international bodies
You will get an employment as a consultant with Manpower. The assignment is to start in mid June until the end of September with possible extension. The role is for full-time.
Competences and experience
The interim will work in the Public Health Training Section on the area of Learning Methods and as a part of Training Network Strengthening Group shall be requested to perform various tasks including:
* Education at university level
* Professional experience (including traineeships) is advantageous
* Good sense of accuracy and attention to detail
* Very good command in English, oral and written
* Knowledge of MS Office
* High level of responsibility and ability to take initiative
* Very good ability to work in team
* Public health background and some experience related to the aforementioned duties
* Experience in working for an international institute or organisation
* Excellent communication skills needed (written and spoken)
* Result-oriented personality
