Company Description
Vattenfall is one of Europe's largest producers and retailers of electricity and heat. Our main markets are Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the UK. The Vattenfall Group has approximately 20,000 employees. We have been electrifying industries, powering homes and transforming life through innovation for more than 100 years. We now want to make fossil free living possible within one generation and we are driving the transition to a sustainable energy system.
Job Description
Business Area (BA) Markets maximizes the value of Vattenfall's portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging and sourcing for Vattenfall's assets and sales positions. It serves as Vattenfall's single market access to energy commodity markets trading in electricity, emissions, fuels, freight and renewable certificates. We are active across Europe with more than 450 professionals working from Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands.
The independent Compliance function supports and challenges the business by promoting a compliant and risk aware culture which allows Vattenfall to move towards fossil freedom while safeguarding its reputation. This is done by identifying, assessing, advising, controlling, monitoring and reporting on BA Markets' compliance risks. The scope of the Compliance function covers e.g. trading compliance, know your counterparty procedures and responsible sourcing management. The team reports to the Head of BA Markets and to the Vattenfall Risk Committee.
For our office in Solna or Hamburg we are looking for a dedicated and motivated person with technical and quantitative skills to assist with the development of data driven compliance analysis methods, e.g. by improving the calibration & efficacy of our trade surveillance.
Main tasks & responsibilities
The main responsibility is further improving the compliance function's own framework and tools, with focus on data driven methods, automation & digitalization, specifically, e.g. improving a tool analyzing the interactions of Vattenfall algorithms in the market and defining as well as calibrating alert rules detecting market abuse scenarios in the Trade Surveillance system.
Together with the rest of the Compliance team, embed a compliant and risk aware culture within BA Markets. This involves playing an advisory role as well as performing controls of the business, thereby ensuring adherence to best practices, internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Participate in general Compliance tasks, such as incident management, controls and reporting. Cooperation with other relevant teams such as trading and risk functions, but also contacts with authorities and industry associations may be required.
