Job description
Active Safety and Chassis is a unit within Research and Development at Volvo Cars. We are passionate in developing technology that enables Volvo Cars to fulfill its aggressive targets - to be leading in the areas of Active Safety and Vehicle Dynamics. The Chassis department is supporting these ambitions by developing first class mechanics, electronics and software for Suspension, Brakes and Steering. We are looking for a System Engineer in the functional area of Steering Electronics to develop future Steering Technology. The position is located at the Steering Electronics and Functions group.
As a System Engineer you will be responsible for the complete control system including electronic hardware and software.
Main tasks
* Collection and documentation of system requirements in terms of Vehicle Dynamics attributes, Functions, Legal requirements etc.
* Development of a system lay-out with hardware and software components, interfaces to other systems etc. in order to fulfill all requirements.
* Collaboration with System Engineers for interfacing systems in order to assure correct communication
* Support concept and project leaders in developing correct quality assurance plans, balancing of conflicting requirements etc.
Who are you?
Qualifications
* You have a Master or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar competence through other education and/or professional experience
* You have at least three years experience from development of electronic hardware and software of embedded systems in industrial applications
* Your English is fluent, both written and spoken
* We want you to be communicative and a strong team player
* We are looking for a thorough, independent and passionate engineer and you are actively working by the guidance of customer focus and common objectives rather than detailed instructions
* We expect you to have the desire and ability to contribute in the work to develop both the team and the work processes
* You have a passion for cars and a driver's license (Swedish category B)
It is an advantage if you have
* Experience of product development in the car industry
* Experience of Volvo Cars' product development process
* Experience of working with system safety, preferably according to ISO 26262
* Experience of requirement handling in a database environment, preferably Electra
* Fluent in Swedish, both written and spoken
* Experience of international, professional negotiations
