Job description
The section Safety Electronics is responsible for the implementation and design of sensor systems, software and hardware for all safety systems. They are a part of the unit Chassis and Active Safety within Volvo Cars' Research and Development organisation.
Within the section, our group Safety Sensing, currently consists of 15 people. We are responsible for all sensor electronics hardware as well as the integrated sensor platforms of the future. Since sharing of data from different sensors is a new and important part regarding the design of future security systems, we need to strengthen the group with a system designer who is focused on fusion of sensor data from static objects (Static Object Fusion).
Your role as a Systems Designer is to develop and maintain electrical systems solutions according to the function zoning area in each car. In the field of Active Safety, systems that are realising customer functions such as automatic brakes, collision warning and lane-changing assistance are developed. You shall, based on internal requirements from each function, sublime and contribute to building a system solution that can be applied to cars that meet Volvo's high standards. By working with decision modelling tools, the System Designer describes a system solution (SKB). You will also be responsible for ensuring that the system solution will be verified. Part of the development work will be executed by suppliers which is why the follow-up of the suppliers' work and deliveries will be a central part of the work. As a System Designer, you will get a creative job in an international environment with good possibilities for personal development.
Who are you?
* University Degree in Data/Physics/Electronics or equivalent
* Documented experience of organised work in a structured development process, system development and system requirement work
* Experience of electronic development and software development
* Documented experience in dealing with sensor fusion in automotive applications
* Documented experience in system development within the technology area of Static Object Fusion and programming experience of Embedded MATLAB
* Documented knowledge of how sensor hardware is integrated in the environment of cars
* Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both written and spoken
Personal Characteristics
* Accustomed to work with suppliers in an international environment
* Openness and good ability to co-operate
It is an advantage if you have
* Good knowledge of Volvo Cars' development process, methods and tools
* Experience of working with system safety, preferably according to ISO 26262
* Knowledge of AUTOSAR
* Experience of working in requirement setting tools like System Weaver or Elektra
