hela Sverige As the Technical Director for Western Europe you will lead technical customer support in the region. Together with your team and our customers you will focus on upgrading strategies to build and develop the customers in the market. Location Oxelösund or West Europe.
About the position
You will build and implement the regional strategy for SSAB Special Steels together with the Sales Director for Western Europe. The strategy implementation consists of building customer segment and application knowledge, and building the capabilities of your team of Technical Development Managers to develop the market for advanced steels in each of their countries. You are also expected to build personal relationships with the most important key accounts in the region and drive the development agenda on a strategic level.
You will work closely with sales and technical teams within Product Development and Market Development at the SSAB steel mills. You will ensure that we strengthen the technical and market competencies in your own team as well as in the Sales team. You will be deeply involved in complex sales for SSAB's world leading products, with focus on Hardox® and StrenxTM. You will work with existing and new customers, having a strong focus on creating long-lasting customer relationships. Your working area is within West Europe and you may be located in this region or at an SSAB location in Sweden. You will report to Head of Sales for SSAB Special Steels and be a part of this management team which consists of Sales Directors and Technical Directors.
Main Responsibilities
• On a strategic and tactical level lead your team to develop and execute productivity improvements, weight reductions, cost savings and upgrading of Hardox® and StrenxTM applications.
• Development of your team and your work processes in a spirit of continuous improvement based on the SSAB One philosophy.
You will work with technical development of both existing and new customers and explore new segments and applications. Your focus will be on creating long-lasting customer relationships. You will provide sales, market and customer information to management and monitor competitor and market activities. As Technical Director you will also be a key person to secure change and change management.

Your qualifications
• University degree or equivalent, in Engineering, experience from product development or market development and Processing experience.
• Proven skills in leadership and development of both individuals and teams
• Excellent presentation, communication and negotiation skills in English. Swedish or other European languages are highly preferred.
We expect you to lead your team in accordance with the SSAB One principles based on delegating responsibilities and accountability to your team members. You will help them to visualise and evaluate the current situation with our customers in their markets and by this enable them to take the decisions on operational level.
You need to have a genuine interest and an ability to build long-term customer relationships. You are good at seeing and creating customer value and want to be involved in developing clients' businesses. We expect you to be proactive, independent and well-organized but still a great team player with excellent learning and problem solving skills. You enjoy change and development and have understanding of the steel business culture and traditions. You are capable of extensive traveling, mainly in West Europe. A good understanding and acceptance of the overall objectives of SSAB steel mills is also required.
