Job description
The section Safety Electronics is responsible for the implementation and design of sensor systems, software and hardware for all active safety systems. The section is part of the unit Chassis and Active Safety within the Research and Development organisation. Our group Safety Sensing currently consists of 15 people who are responsible for all sensor electronics hardware as well as the integrated sensor platforms of the future. Since sensor electronics and controllers are important parts of the active safety systems, we need to strengthen our group with an Electronic Hardware Design Engineer.
For each electronic module there is a responsible engineer for the electronic hardware who runs the development process of the component. The teams report to the project manager on a joint preparation meeting for the project. Good communication with developing supplier and assignment leader of the project is thus of utmost importance.
Main tasks
* Generate specifications for our electronic modules
* Auditing suppliers' designs
* Acting as a senior hardware designer, advisor, sounding board, support for providers and other colleagues of the group
* Running technology meetings with suppliers
* Managing and communicating schedules for the components that are being developed
You will be in close contact with the department's other hardware engineers since you are involved in several parallel projects. In that way, you create a wide circle of contacts and experience of Volvo's development process and project work.
As an Electrical Designer, you will influence our customers experience of a safe, environmentally friendly and modern car. There are good possibilities for personal development, for example opportunities to work with research and international assignments.
Who are you?
* Master or bachelor degree in electronics or equivalent
* Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both written and spoken
* Openness and good ability to co-operate are essential skills, since you will have a wide circle of contacts and work in projects and teams
* Ability to organise and plan your work, and to work to completion
* Documented experience of electrical component development and electronics development in the automotive industry
* Experience of mechanical development and integration of cars regarding electronic hardware
* At least two years documented experience in construction work within the field of radar and automotive
It is an advantage if you have
* Documented experience of work in the automotive industry and knowledge of Volvo's development process
* Knowledge of ISO 26262, AUTOSAR, GPDS
* Experience of working in requirement setting tools, preferably System Weaver or Elektra
