Customs and Trade

Customs and Trade, a hosted function with GTO Service Market and Logistics has the responsibility to manage Customs and Trade activities globally for the whole Volvo Group. This includes flows of all material into factories and distribution centres as well as complete products and parts to dealers and end customers.

The main responsibilities for Customs and Trade are:

• Ascertain the Volvo Group's adherence to rules, regulations, laws and the Volvo Group policies related to Export Control, Customs and other Trade related areas
• Balance risks and optimize the processes in order to reach highest efficiency at lowest total cost
Purpose of the position
We are in the phase of building a new global Export Control organization with the purpose to secure Volvo adherence to Export Control regulations. One key player, for this new organization, is the Products and Parts Specialist who will bring valuable knowledge from a critical area of competence to our Export Control team.

Export Control is defined by the set of laws, policies, and regulations that govern the export of sensitive items .

The role of the Export Control organization within the Volvo Group is to develop strategies for the transfer of information, commodities, technology, and software considered to be strategically important in the interest of national security, economic and/or foreign policy concerns.

Key Responsibilities

This is a role covering the entire Volvo Group with a main responsibility to secure that the export of products and spare parts comply with the Export control regulations; spanning from high level compliance requirements to specific technical evaluations and issues in the supply chain. The role has a main focus on export control classification of products and spare parts.*Function as a center of expertize for Export Control within the Volvo Group with focus on products and spare parts

• Coordinate and support in classification of products and spare parts from a technical perspective (Dual Use, military, US-content and sanctions)
• Participate in identification of current and potential risks regarding Export Control with focus on products and spare parts
• Participate in the implementation of standard processes based on the global export control roadmap
• Lead task forces with representatives from various functions within the Volvo Group such as Legal Departments, Sales divisions, Technology departments and Operations on specific export control matters
• Prepare the technical part of license applications and other communications with various governmental agencies
Here's what you can anticipate as the Export Control Products and Spare Parts Specialist:*Together with the rest of the team; Manage prerequisites towards the global processes, routines and tools to secure an efficient export control program
• Gain knowledge on the total Volvo Group product offering and have Interaction with all sites globally
• Train and inform on export control rules within the Volvo Group
• Participating in the development of strategies to secure export control compliance when exporting out from the Volvo Group
• Work as an inspiring, inclusive and active team member

Qualifications / Key Competencies

For this position we're looking for an independent and structured person, with great personal drive and very strong integrity. We think you have:

• Holistic mind-set, with ability to deep dive into details upon need
• Strong result focus, able to prioritize
• Excellent communication and networking skills
• Fluent in English, French and Swedish is a merit
• Good understanding of Volvo Group Processes and Products (is a merit)
• Knowledge of European and American export control regulations* (is a merit)
• Experience from work related to Regulatory Compliance work (is a merit)

Minimum Education and Experience

• University degree in engineering
• Experience of cross-functional leadership
