Job description
Are you interested in an unusually broad assessment role, where you in close co-operation with suppliers, construction teams and property managers develop an optimised system solution? This all under great personal influence, with a great impact on the customer experience in the car and with significant opportunities for professional development? Then we can offer an interesting position here at Engine Mounts.
The Driveline Installation is one of four research divisions within Power Train. The department has approximately 130 employees principally working with the development of five areas: Engine Mounts, Emission Control System, Air Intake Systems, Cooling System and Fuel. We lead this development from strategy to production start. At Engine Mount, we are 15 employees who together are responsible for the engine mounting in all of Volvo's projects. Our product area has strong influence on the car's qualities in the fields of drivability, ride comfort, sound and vibrations. This induce that our work has a major impact of the car's overall experience as a finished product.
We are currently looking for a Computist in order to develop and optimise our engine mounting system.
Main tasks
* Responsible for, together with property managers, developing a balanced and optimised system specification for installation of the power train in wagon projects
* Control that the supplied components meet the specification
* Break down the system requirements to component requirements with the computational tools, ADAMS and Matlab
* Support the project manager in the development of standard settings at the component level
* Work independently and plan assessment activities for delivery to the projects
ensure that the system solution and the standard settings are theoretically verified to the requirement settings
* Ensure that the conditions in the project gives the opportunity to achieve system/component requirement
* Maintain and develop through method the group's computation program
Who are you?
* Higher Education 180 credits (or equivalent knowledge obtained through practical experience)
* User experience of ADAMS/Car is desirable, together with the optimization software ModeFRONTIER as the main analytical tool
* Good communication skills and teamwork
* Good knowledge in English, both written and spoken
It is an advantage if you have
* Experience of the optimization software ModeFRONTIER
* Programming and scripting practice. We use customised analysis tools containing VBA/Excel, Matlab, UNIX scripts and Python Scripts. Competence to develop these is highly valued
* Experience and competence within engine mount and sound & vibrations
* Material technical knowledge/experience within rubber/metal
* Knowledge about VCC processes
