Job description
Volvo Cars Powertrain is looking for a CAE Engineer within the area of computational Fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis on Engine systems. The position is organised at the Engine CAE group.
The Engine CAE group is responsible for advanced technical calculations within the Engine Development department at Volvo Cars. The area of the group includes structural analysis (FEM), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and other types of mechanical analysis.
Analyses are performed on different system levels such as complete powertrain, complete engine and engine components with the overall purpose of dimensioning components as well as virtually verify different technical solutions.
As a CAE engineer within the area of Engine CFD (3-dimensional) you perform analyses regarding fluid dynamics on engine systems with the primary tools STAR-CD and STAR-CCM+
We are looking for someone that is analytical and has a genuine interest of advanced technical calculations and advanced methods. You will run the work independently and have contacts both inside and outside the company.
Main tasks
* Perform calculations on the different flow systems in the engine, such as manifolds, exhaust after treatment, lubrication system and cooling system
* Analyse results and issue recommendations
* Take part in method development within the area
* Take active part in development projects and teams
Who are you?
* Master of science in Mechanical engineering, Engineering Physics or chemical Engineering
* Experience of advanced computer aided analysis
* Experience of and good knowledge of analysis with STAR-CD and STAR-CCM+
* Experience of and good knowledge of available methods within 3d CFD
* Experience of and good knowledge of CFD analysis of combustion engine systems
* Good knowledge in English, both written and spoken
* Get on well in a community and find it easy to work in teams
* Positive, open minded and constructive
* Communicative and with the ability to convey results in a structured and understandable way
* Ability to work independently, actively follow up and take responsibility for own results
* Ability to monitor and structure complex relations and find solutions
