What does the team do?
Collaborate on ground-breaking technologies at the most disruptive, cutting-edge of Ocado's business. We're growing our multi-disciplinary R&D team, in our exciting lab space right in the heart of Stockholm.
Using the newest technologies and techniques, our group operates a radical agile product development methodology, iterating fast with design, manufacture and testing of next-generation robotics in a single facility.
The successful candidate will embrace the opportunity to work in a collaborative research environment, knowing their ideas are valued and that their work will see high impact products put into production environments.
What would I be doing?
Our workshop manager will be responsible for ensuring our state of the art workshop facility is safe, well maintained and well operated. A successful candidate will need to comfortable operating in a number of roles:
as a health and safety representative, managing workplace and machine safety, access and permissions;
as a teacher, spreading the knowledge of manufacturing and prototyping techniques;
as a service and support technician, making sure that machine quality and uptime is maintained;
as a workshop enthusiast, striving for efficient workflows, workshop layouts as well as tool and machine prioritization;
as an inventory representative, managing purchasing, inventory and restocking

The role will cover a wide variety of tasks and regular interactions with other members of the team. In particular, the person will collaborate with manufacturing technicians to improve existing workshop pipelines and take part in designing new methods to increase quality and efficiency. As such the desire to acquire new skills and interest in emergent technologies are key. Good communication skills are essential, as is attention to detail and ability to reason about and verify results.
What are we looking for?
We see the following as 'must haves':
Operator experience with a variety of manufacturing techniques regarding demands, service and design, including laser cutting, water jet, mill and lathe (manual/CNC) etc.
Experience implementing health and safety rules, regulations and legislations
Inventory and database management experience
Strong communication skills and service oriented

Having these will make you stand out from the crowd:
Background in CAD
Experience with teaching, machine techniques especially
Knowledge of additive manufacturing techniques
Knowledge of mechatronics or mechanical design
Background in assembly lines
