About the role
Your focus will be on the biometrics approach in our user research lab. You will plan, develop, and set-up the exploitation of our biometrics tools while enabling the crossing of various types of data available in the department for an optimal analysis of the user experience. You will have to understand as well as to be able to explain how the collected data makes sense. You will also be working for the development of new methodologies that will be qualitative or quantitative, in order to contribute to the optimization of user testing within the team. We give you the chance to impact the quality of our games as much as possible, and need someone ready to put Biometrics at the forefront of the Massive usability improvement strategies. We need someone who will pride themselves on the consistency and accuracy of the data they provide.
Responsibilities
• Observation of players in test conditions
• Analysis of data collected
• Participation in writing playtest reports to inform the developer of current issues experienced by the players.
• Organization, planning and management of playtests, with the goal of improving the users? experience in Massive and Ubisoft products:
o Adapting the reports according to the specific needs of the design teams : level design reports, features evaluation, validation of economic systems, validation of difficulty levels, ergonomic appraisal of the menus, etc.
• Conduct biometrics test on games in development, particularly eye-tracking and GSR, in order to add relevant feedback to usability reports.
• Analysis and studies of the design and ergonomics of the entire Massive and Ubisoft line-up.
• Creation and application of new process and methodologies aimed at improving the playtests and design recommendations depending on the specifics projects and the evolution of the industry.
• Establishing methodologies and playtest protocols in accord with the specific needs of the current Massive projects.
• Outreach to the designers and development teams, in order to systematize the use of playtest to correct issues before launch, in all Massive Entertainment production pipelines.
Profile
To suit this position; you should be passionate about User Experience and how to improve games. You want to use all data available to search for the best solutions to help the development the teams so they can offer the best experience to the gamers. You want to use your knowledge of biometrics to be able to give the most accurate representations of their users? behaviors to the designers.
Experience and skills
• User experience required, preferably in the video games industry.
• Biometrics knowledge and experience required.
• Good understanding of user motivations, survey and focus group methodology
• To propose methodologies and complementary approaches to the Team (biometrics, statistics, psychology)
• A familiarity with Tobii hardware and software
• Able to work with a wide cross-functional team of colleagues
• Good knowledge of video games and industry standards, including current best practices.
