Welcome to Linnaeus University! A place for knowledge, ideas and development. For growth potential and a belief in the future. In Småland and in the world.

The Department of Design is located in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, which is one of Linnaeus University's five faculties. The faculty offers a dynamic, flexible and international learning environment with both scientific and artistic activities in a wide range of fields. We build complete academic environments in which the interplay between tuition, research and collaboration acts as a catalyst for quality improvements at the university and in society at large.

Design is a powerful force for change and for development towards a sustainable society. At the Department of Design, we offer programmes and courses which provide the student with sound knowledge of design and a solid foundation in the field of sustainability. Tuition takes place in teams whereby different teachers with practical, theoretical and artistic perspectives teach together. Via our research, the department contributes to sustainable societal development.

Duties

The successful candidate will primarily teach on the programme Visual Communication + Change but also take responsibility for relevant modules and courses related to graphic design, typography, motion graphics, web design and digital environments on the department's other programmes on under- as well as postgraduate level.

As all the department's educational programmes are international and English is the working language at the department, the successful candidate will be expected to communicate in English with a considerable degree of proficiency, orally and in writing.

As an employee, you will actively participate in the Department of Design's internal and external work and follow and support the development of contemporary design practices and associated disciplines such as design history and theory, with special emphasis on sustainability. Given our focus on sustainability, our teaching teams include researchers from several different fields and disciplines, and as an employee you will be expected to work in transdisciplinary teaching teams and in collaboration with external partners.

Another one of your duties as an employee is to participate in the development of all of the department's design programmes.

You must also have obtained a PhD in the arts, demonstrated artistic ability or have other professional competence equal to a doctoral degree when taking into account the subject content of the position and the duties which it will include (Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4, Section 4).
