hela Sverige Welfare technology is crucial in the near future to meet the demands of an aging population. Based on technology care providers can create a monitored safe environment for the service user. Wearables, such as smart watches, improve the life quality of elderly people often suffering from dementia, both at home and outdoors. The battery is a crucial element for the usage of these devices. However, charging these devices is a challenge as the task is easily forgotten, or includes removing the wearable from the body - with temporary functionality loss, and risk of forgetting to put it back on, as a result.
The aim of this project is to develop solutions to provide clear feedback about the battery charging status of wearables and to investigate how to make the charging task easier for the users. Explore different charging alternatives using technology available on the market today, explore the area and come up with interesting concepts for further research or development. The target groups are elderly users and people suffering from dementia.
The assignment
• Research charging technology alternatives, and analyze the alternatives
• Workshopping with Tunstall I&D regarding prerequisites and requirements for the care context
• Iteratively workshopping with users regarding charging alternatives and opportunities
• Prototyping
• Creating well motivated charging concepts and conclusions
