System test engineer for Data collection system

Software engineering is an increasingly critical area in the automotive industry. Volvo Cars is bringing more of the software development in-house to better handle continuous integration and the complex interactions between divergent functions. Connectivity is an enabler for most vehicle functions, including diagnostics and data collection, but also introduces privacy and cybersecurity risks that need to be managed through innovative and robust designs.

In the Engineering Data Hub department, we put high quality vehicle data at the fingertips of engineers to understand our customers and improve our products. We are growing and we are therefore now looking for curious, creative people who want to change the world through innovative thinking.

The Data Collection System team is responsible for developing and operating Volvo Cars' solution to collect vehicle data over the air. The solution is designed to meet our high standards for privacy compliance, flexibility, and fast response times, and we are continuously adding new capabilities to meet the expectations and increasing needs from analytics for Engineering and also for new customer services.

What you will do?
As System Test Engineer at the Engineering Data Hub your responsibilities will be to:
• Understand the complete system design and architecture to be able to develop efficient test case scenarios.
• Prepare and perform tests in different testing environments (RIG, HIL, complete vehicle)
• Analyze test results and communicate with involved parties.
• Perform problem-solving, fault tracing, and debugging.
• Ensure our testing validates quality and adheres to safety regulations.
• Collaborate in defining requirements and maintaining test documentation.
• Investigate and improve our test environments, making sure they cover our needs for future platforms.
• Be involved in technical discussions and decisions.

What you will bring?
To be right for this role we believe that you have a University Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical and/or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience from the automotive industry. You have a solid knowledge in software development, testing, test strategies and quality assurance. You have experience of working with integration-driven development, how to grow functionality and evolve systems in a complex electrical system.
As a person, you work with a high level of engagement and a strong enthusiasm with patience and commitment to reach your goals. You work with a team-oriented approach and have a
focus on deliveries, self-development of the competence needed to be prepared for future tasks. You are knowledgeable in requirement handling, with a keen interest in safety standards and product reliability. You are independent and with a strong drive, but you also make sure to work together with the team. You have strong communication skills, structured, and have an organized way of working. You have a background in automotive, preferably in in-vehicle communications with basic knowledge of Cloud applications and TCP/IP communication is a plus.
You are familiar with Scrum methodologies and comfortable working in a dynamic, two-week sprint cycle. You are proficient in Python coding and automotive Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
