In the Crystal Engineering group, led by Prof Lars Öhrström, we are interested in synthesis and characterisation of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent-organic frameworks (COFs) and crystal engineering with emphasis on host-guest aspects, environmental and pharmaceutical applications.

The central research question of the thesis proposal is: How do the dynamic and mechanic properties of a MOF depend on the network topology, the secondary building unit architecture, linker flexibility and guest molecules?

Information about the division and the department
The secret life of molecules is the main theme of our research and teaching in the Division of Chemistry and Biochemistry. We are studying how small and large molecules can be produced, their interactions with each other in materials or in living cells and how they can capture and convert energy. The results of our fundamental research give premise of advances and applications in areas ranging from energy and materials to nanotechnology and medicine.

Major responsibilities
Your major responsibilities are to pursue your doctoral studies, including taking courses equivalent to 60 higher education credits. The position generally also includes teaching on Chalmers' undergraduate level or performing other duties corresponding to 20 per cent of working hours.
