You will: Provide general information to the public on a multitude of topics. Answer and screen incoming calls to the Embassy Switchboard and direct the calls to various Embassy Sections, other US Embassies and other Swedish and American societies and organizations. Research a broad spectrum of information using the Internet and other reference materials. Assist in maintaining the accuracy of the Embassy's Internet web site. Assist Embassy personnel who require help in completing outgoing calls.
Education: Completion of Secondary School. Prior Work Experience: 2 years' experience in a reception or customer service position. Language Proficiency: Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing Swedish is required. Job Knowledge: An understanding of the United States and Swedish society and its organizations. Working knowledge of computer applications including Word, Outlook and Internet Explorer. Skills and Abilities: The jobholder must possess tactful people skills. The incumbent must also have the ability to develop procedures on how to handle caller's questions and the ability to develop innovative methods in order to streamline the feedback process and answer to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). Occasionally the Switchboard Operator must tactfully and professionally answer to terrorist threats.
