Overview
For Essity, sustainability is an integral part of our business model and our strategy for growth and value creation. We are now looking for a committed Sustainability Director, Environmental Affairs, to complement our Group Sustainability team and to continue to drive our environmental efforts across the value chain as part of our sustainability agenda.
Essity is a leading global hygiene and health company, dedicated to improving well-being through leading hygiene and health solutions. We work with a life cycle approach to provide our consumers and customers with better, safe, environmentally and socially sound products and services. This means that we are working with a value chain approach from designing products, sourcing raw materials, producing products and all the way through how products are used and after use. As part of this approach, our production units are working with resource efficiency for energy, water and waste supported by our environmental management system. Essity has committed to develop Science based targets to combat climate change.
In the role as Sustainability Director, Environmental affairs you will be part of further developing our Group environmental targets and to coach and support our production units and suppliers to execute on our targets and strategies.
The position is located in Gothenburg and reports VP Product Sustainability.



Main Tasks
Participate in the development of environmental targets, strategy and policies related to the full value chain in alignment with Essity's strategy and business plans. Propose new and updates to environmental policies and targets as required
Work in close cooperation with the, Global Hygiene Supply, Business Units and the Group Sustainability team to translate the company's overall environmental targets and strategy into relevant and measurable targets, projects and KPIs with focus on manufacturing and sourcing
Work in co-operation with the Sustainability Controlling team to develop and execute internal and external environmental reporting
Drive network, projects and activities to deliver on decided objectives within environmental affairs, including the total value chain
Develop analyses and related action plans based on existing environmental legislation and future known or presumed regulatory frameworks
Lead the Essity Environmental Affairs Committee and Group networks connected to environmental affairs production)
Represents Essity in relevant external Trade organisations and other relevant environmental networks

Key Competencies
University degree or equivalent in sustainability, environment, chemical or mechanical engineering or similar
Has broad and documented experience from managing environmental affairs in relevant industry such as production, supply chain management and product development
Extensive international and commercial understanding
Understand the full value chain and impact on value creation
Fluent in English, both oral and written
Ability to travel
