The department Surface Treatment Engineering is responsible for development and delivery of technical solutions, test methods, strategies and competence in the area of surface treatment as well as stating technical requirements and verifying technical solutions. We are divided into one engineering group and two analysis and verification (A&V) groups. Our technical expertise area consists of pre-treatment, paint systems, corrosion protection, sealing materials, sound damping materials and body adhesives. Also, we are responsible for the attribute Paint & Finish.
We are now looking to add a Test Engineer to our Surface Treatment Centre, which is our global analysis and verification centre for Surface Treatment materials within Volvo Car Group. We also support running production with analyses when disturbances occur and often participate in international and national research projects. Working as a Surface treatment test engineer within paint, corrosion testing, adhesives, sealants, damping materials and corrosion protection waxes means that you will establish and develop relationships with a variety of system areas, suppliers and other customer as well as our own paint shops in different plant locations around the world. In this position you will build and maintain a wide personal network both within and outside the company. Main responsibilities
* Be a part of our Surface Treatment testing team who are responsible to verify surface treatment materials before implementing these in to running production or on new car concepts
* Be responsible for planning, performing and reporting analysis and tests on Surface Treatment materials (i.e Paint materials, Pre Treatment materials, Electro Coat materials, Adhesives, sealants, sound damping materials and corrosion protection waxes)
* Develop test methods, instructions and design guidelines
* Be responsible for maintenance/calibrations of equipment
* Support in running production in material related issues
* build and maintain a wide personal network both within and outside the company
Required qualifications
* University degree or equivalent work experience in Chemistry/Materials
* Fluent in English, both spoken and written
* Theoretical and practical experience of working within Surface Treatment verification and testing is preferred
* Drivers license (B)
