Support Engineer
Lavastorm is an award winning and industry-leading supplier of agile data analytic tools used to improve business performance worldwide, focusing on the communications, media, and utilities verticals. We are 80 people working in three offices in Boston (HQ), Stockholm and Melbourne.
You will be responsible for the ongoing support of our leading agile data analytic products. This position’s primary focus will be to provide technical expertise and support to multiple customers, engaging during the implementation process and continuing onto ongoing product support. This position is located at Lavastorm’s Stockholm office.
Your tasks/responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise, troubleshooting, and problem investigation for customers utilizing Lavastorm’s agile data analytic tools
Serve as the advocate to Lavastorm engineering, representing our customers.
Recommend creative approaches to solving unique customer problems while leveraging core product technology
Take initiative to achieve value-added results, within scope of responsibility
Recommend alternatives and provide risk assessments based on areas of expertise
Plan and organize ones own work load and determine, monitor, and report on status
Develop methods and techniques to improve the process of providing excellent support to customers; contribute to the Lavastorm support toolbox.
Your profile/qualifications:
Strong problem solving skills, emphasizing a technical consultant’s skill set with a demonstrated solid understanding of software development lifecycle
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Possess the technical skill and knowledge to seek and share appropriate information with clients and coworkers and respond to concerns with timely, meaningful, fact-based, and constructive feedback
Three-plus years experience in a development/implementation environment
Education Required: University degree, preferred in a technical field
Experience working in customer facing roles in a software company.
Required Technical Skills
Experience with technical activities with heavy reliance on data analysis skills, such as data conversions, systems integration, and data warehousing.
Database/data analysis experience (SQL, PL/SQL); Oracle preferred
Experience with programming and scripting in a UNIX/Linux environment, including database experience.
Experience with configuration of Unix/Linux environment, especially performance related fine tuning.
Experience with agile and traditional waterfall development methodologies
Preferred Experience and Skills
Three or more years of application software implementation experience and expertise in applying technology to meet client needs; or three years in telecommunications IT with deep exposure to OSS / BSS.
Experience in a product support and consulting environment highly desirable.
Revenue assurance experience, including data reconciliation, usage analysis is desired.
Mix of support, consulting and development experience.
Experience with web based systems architecture using Weblogic, Tomcat, Resin, or similar web servers; JSP, HTML, XML experience
Object oriented development experience with java and Delphi.
