Structural Polymer Composites
Painted Body & closures department -93700 is responsible for the development of body structures (platform and top-hat), sealings, doors, lids, door mechanisms and surface treatment systems for all Volvo cars. Development work is mainly conducted within the department and in close corporation with manufacturing, suppliers and external partners.
Strategy, Concepts and advanced engineering group -93720 is a team of 11 persons working with strategies, pre-development, concept development and materials cost reduction. We deliver new technical solutions to future programs, mainly based on materials, efficient structures and joining solutions for car bodies and closure applications at the department.
Main responsibilities
We are now looking for a person to be in charge of the area Structural Polymer Composite development.
You will be responsible for initiating and conducting both long-term pre-development activities within the area and short-term support in running car programs or special assignments. The work also involves being responsible for strategies, guiding- and mandatory document. You will work in a broad network within the department and together with manufacturing engineering. To be able to be in the technical forefront you will also have a strong contact net outside Volvo Car, i.e. suppliers, competitors, technical universities and research institutes regarding information exchange and collaboration projects. Conducting training seminars and information dissemination is an important part of your work, and your continuous competence development and team-building abilities are highly appreciated.
Your initial challenge will be focused on building strong competence in the technical field of structural polymer composites technologies for product applications @ Volvo Car, and your abilities for team leading. In parallel, as an enabler, you will also build your network within and outside Volvo Car Group. A possible future step in your development is a formal technical specialist role.
Required qualifications
* M.Sc, preferably in mechanical engineering focused on materials development & polymers.
* Documented experience in applying structural polymer composites including also manufacturing considerations.
* Documented team-leading abilities.
* Fluent in written and spoken English.

* Ability to "see the bigger picture" in early development

Meritorious qualifications
* Experience from pre-development
* Experience from analyzing tools like DoE, FMEA etc
* Basic engineering & CAE- knowledge
* Experience from 93700 working area
* German speaking
