www.catpropulsion.comAs a strategic purchaser the main purpose of the role is to set the strategy and be overall responsible for the appointed commodity areas in terms of i.e. supplier negotiations, supplier selection, supplier relations and risk management. The strategic purchaser should be updated on the market situation and trend and make sure that the company has the best overall sourcing strategy. The strategic purchaser is also responsible for the sourcing roadmap in collaboration with the design department and marketing company to make sure the company has a holistic sourcing solution.
Main responsibilities
• Responsible for the sourcing roadmap within the appointed commodity; strategy, supplier base analysis, potential risks, contingency planning, recommendations and to align it with the technical and market roadmap.
• Responsible for the supplier relationship and to ensure necessary agreements are in place.
• Responsible for developing the supplier base for appointed commodity and to ensure the terms of quality, capacity, cost and risk management.
• Make sure agreements and price lists are valid and negotiating agreements to ensure a good supply chain.
• Responsible for implementation of new strategic suppliers through assessment and company procedure.
• Represent the sourcing area in development projects.
Required qualifications
• Diploma in Economics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or other relevant qualification.
• Working experience of 5 years obtained in purchasing or strategic purchasing.
• Experience within the marine industry, a manufacturing environment or other relevant areas.
Personal qualities
• Well organized and structured
• Result oriented, analytical and a problem solver
• Good communication skills
• Flexibility in adopting new ideas and unfamiliar methods
• Independent as well as a team player
• Fluent in spoken and written English communication
• Computer skills (ERP systems such as Monitor, MS Dynamics AX, MS Office)
• Willingness to travel
