About the position
Technical Development Managers (TDMs) support division Special Steels customers and Sales with detailed technical knowledge of our products and their proper application. While most TDM support a specific geography and travel extensively, this position provides global support and works mainly from the mill. The Borlänge mill TDM is the primary liaison between Tech Support and Borlänge Product Development, Production, and Quality groups and it also shares the responsibility for the Borlänge Tech Support Helpdesk. Other responsibilities include advice and support for laboratory investigations of steel samples returned from the field, and training of colleagues and new employees on technical topics. This position reports to the Technical Director for Turkey Middle East and Africa, and the working location is Borlänge.
SSAB have an extensive steel grade portfolio that can support a diverse customer base.
In this role you will continuously improve the technical development process in line with SSABs values and principles. You are reactive to solving problems and also proactive to new business opportunities. Duties generally derive from technical responsibilities related to customer engagement, project management, opportunity development and product innovation. For example, SSAB steel grades can increase effectiveness in the workshops or performance of the end product and therefore increasing the competitive advantage for the end-user.

Your qualifications
We expect you to have a few years' experience and strong drive to work in steel business/production and a genuine interest to learn more about steel making, properties and user benefits. Your personality preference is to make decision built on data and you have good analytical skills. You have graduated/university degree as M.Sc. in Technology (Mechanical, Metallurgical or Mining Engineering) or equivalent. Experience in the Mining Industry is appreciated.
You need to be fluent in Swedish, English and feel comfortable in delivering presentations to internal colleagues and customers. Other languages will be counted as benefit.
You are mill based but expected to have the ability to travel internationally up to 25% of working time, for example to Israel.
