We are looking for a Senior Project Manager with high technology focus for our customer in the automotive industry.

The Vehicle Automation and Active Safety program overall objective is to develop and secure and transfer mature technologies and concepts to product development according to Group Technology Plan and global product plans.

The automation program area of responsibility is higher level of vehicle control & automation to support vehicle efficiency, comfort and safety, including:
• Automated vehicle functions on public roads
• Automated vehicles in confined areas
• Active safety systems development to assure lead in the area of safety
• Systems to support and improve maneuverability of vehicle and vehicle combinations

Features and target areas: Productivity & Transport efficiency, Driver assistance & safety, Driver performance, Utilization, Quality, Safety, Handling and Agility.

The Vehicle Automation program is growing and has a high complexity due to the cross functional contents and need, large budget and a complex project portfolio with many public founding projects supporting the area.
As the Vehicle Automation area is seen as a possible gamechanger for the industry - the area has a high visibility and focus internally and externally during the years to come. This requires an interest and skills in communication at different levels and with a variety of stakeholders.

Task description Senior project manager with technology focus

We need a project manager to manage projects in the area of vehicle automation and active safety. The main gap is in new Public founded research projects and customer collaboration projects where we will develop and pilot vehicle automation and active safety technologies and features to gain knowledge and mature technologies. Based on candidate we'll discuss the most appropriate project/-s to manage.
The role as project manager is estimated to cover ~75 % of the time and you're expected to complement with technical or administrative work within the projects as needed.

The role includes traditional project management activities and leading of daily work, reporting to steering committees, other stakeholders and assuring deliveries. We have an agile way of working for the technology development teams. The projects are important to steer and manage the development towards agreed targets.

Projects are in the early product development cycle and the target is to mature technology and concepts to Technology Readiness Level 4 or 6. The projects will have high internal focus and attention and a strong leadership and collaboration skills is therefore required. External demonstrations, customer pilots and collaboration will be part of the assignment.

You will be a member of the group and lead one or several projects in the area towards given targets in a cross functional way of working through a teamwork oriented and inspiring leadership. You will be supported by a unique set of global expertise in the area. Speed, courage and technology knowledge is of high importance.

Required profile Senior project manager with technology focus:

A PhD or a Master of degree Science in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical or equivalent engineering with experience equivalent to 10 or more years of automotive experience, including 5 or more years of Project and/or line management experience.

An interest in the area of Vehicle Automation and related technologies is seen favourable.

A broad vehicle technology background is desired, moreover good leadership, networking and communication skills is essential. As the area covers early research to product implementation a broad interest and experience from different phases of R&D is preferable

• You have the ability to get buy-in, are a team player and you are result-oriented.
• Ability to manage and promote innovation
• Strong delivery and business focus
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English
• Project planning, administration, reporting and budget management

Interest and knowledge in one or several of the below areas is seen as favorable:
• Complex embedded control systems - prefferable vehicle control systems
• Vehicle Electrical architectures
• Active safety and vehicle automation features
• Sensor technologies as Radars, cameras with image processing, lidars, ultrasonic sensors, digital maps
• Sensor fusion
• Vehicle technology and commercial vehicles.

Favorable experience:
• Lead of complex development projects in large organizations
• Lead of Public founding research projects
• Research or technical work in the area
• Agile work methodologies
