Engine Combustion consists of three sourcing teams responsible for Air management, FIE & Electronics and EATS technologies globally. We are a group of highly dedicated and skilled people located in North America and Europe.
One of our team members will go on parental leave and we are now looking for a Sourcing buyer to complete the Air management team during that period.
The parts within the Air management scope have a direct impact on emission compliance, fuel consumption and feature level and are considered as development components.
Mission
As Sourcing buyer you will drive and execute all contractual- and sourcing related activities up to supplier selection with the purpose of selecting the most competitive suppliers from a Quality, Delivery, Cost and Feature perspective - in accordance with the Sourcing strategy and the Projects' requirements.
Core Responsibilities
• Lead, negotiate and execute sourcing related activities in every phase of the product life cycle; i.e. Technology development (AE) projects, DVP projects and PMR's (e.g. supplier switches)
• Negotiate relevant agreements in all phases of the product life cycle, including business extension
• Negotiate optimized part-, tool-, development-, prototype cost, payment terms and productivity commitments with the suppliers in the sourcing phase
• Contribute to the development of sourcing strategies, and ensure implementation
• Identify new suppliers when needed
• Follow market- and technology development for the relevant segment(s)
• Ensure collaboration with the other buyer roles within the respective segment(s)
• Manage interactions with Engineering in development of technology roadmaps
• Act as supplier host for the majority of the suppliers in the portfolio with the opportunity to coordinate Volvo Group activities towards the suppliers

Qualifications
• University degree in Business, Engineering or related field and or equivalent experience
• 2-5 years' experience in Purchasing and/or extensive negotiation experience with a supplier/customer relationship
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Multicultural experience is an asset
