Role and Responsibilities
The Software Engineer/Developer role is a crucial part of the KPMG Sweden Lighthouse Team, and is supposed to support the business units within KPMG SE to develop and digitalize current and new core services, and to provide a wide range of data analytics and data modelling services to clients and customers.
The Software Engineer/Developer role enjoys the challenge of building solutions, services and applications that solve today's business needs - for clients as well as for KPMGs new digitalized services and offerings. The Software Engineer/Developer must therefore be willing to keep up to date with the fast-moving cloud services landscape to remain an effective member of the development team within the Lighthouse organization. The work must be done equally well on a team as well as independently, given a set of project requirements or tasks. This requires the Software Engineer/Developer to possess excellent communication and collaboration skills. It is important that the Software Engineer/Developer understands and can lead developer teams in all of the aspects of the development cycle, from architecture to testing, and will design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code. Furthermore, the developer should have experience from participating in projects using agile methodologies, such as the Scrum and SAFe approach, using Azure DevOps or similar services, to agile software development.
Technical Skills
• Deep understanding of application development practices and design patterns, application lifecycle management, and common software architectures.
• Solid understanding of modern DevOps practices, including automation, continuous delivery, continuous deployment, and continuous integration methodologies.
• Solid understanding of common database technologies, such as SQL Database/Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
• Strong understanding of Agile development best practices.
• Understanding of software testing and optimization methodologies, including writing unit tests and executing performance and regression testing.
Non-Technical Skills
• 5+ years of success in consultative technical sales and deployment projects (where necessary, managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus on solution/projects) required.
• Proven track record of creating rich documentation for software solutions.
• Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences.
• Problem-solving mentality leveraging internal and/or external resources.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication.
• Programing languages: C++, C#, .NET, Java, JavaScript, Angular, React, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Pig/Hive, SQL, T-SQL, Scala, PowerShell
Other requirements
• Technical Degree: minimum of a Bachelor's in computer science or Math background or adjacent fields
• Positive approach towards problem solving under pressure, including the ability to think through a problem and apply a logical, analytical approach to develop a solution
• The ability to manage time and work independently with multiple stakeholders
• Ability to quickly assimilate information and propose workable solutions
• Ability to describe complex technical issues in a clear non-technical way
• Strong enthusiasm for solving complex problems with our modelling tools with a demonstrable ability to efficiently build solutions that adhere to best practice
• Strong analytical and interpretative skill
• Sustained attention to detail
