The Science Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Copenhagen, Denmark, invites applications for a Software Engineer
We are currently seeking a IT Architect at the Data Management and Software Center (DMSC) situated in Copenhagen (DK) to deliver administrative software systems to the User Office. The User Office at ESS is responsible for the contact with the thousands of scientists visiting ESS in order to carry out experiments.
Description of main responsibilities
As an IT Architect, you will be in charge of driving the delivery of the software systems to support the work at the User Office.
At DMSC you will enter a thriving environment with a number of highly skilled software development teams working together to create a great user experience based on state of the art open source Scientific HPC, DevOps and Cloud technologies. The teams work according to agile methodology, so expect a high pace, care for quality and strong interaction with other team members.
You will get an opportunity to join in the very early phases of the User Office software project, where important design decisions are taken that will shape the future solution. You will drive the building up of the team and lay the foundation for the development methodology.
A successful applicant will have
• A strong background in computer or technical sciences (Master or Ph.D.)
• Experience with managing software projects with 4 or more full time developers
• Extensive experience in software requirement specification
• Stakeholder management as second nature
• Experience with deploying and managing business critical databases
• Experience with developing and deploying administrative systems such as ERP, CRM and the like
• Full professional proficiency in English, written as well as oral.

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with three months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Start date
The position is to be filled as soon as possible.
