We are looking for a recently graduated engineer within electronics, engineering physics or computer science! For the right person this position has great development potential.
You will be part of ABB Marine & Ports in Västerås. ABB's business for Marine & Ports assists ports and shipping companies to transfer containers in a reliable, quick and cost efficient way. Marine & Ports is specialized in advanced automation and information systems for motion control of all types of container cranes. We are the leading supplier of crane systems and are active worldwide. In the large terminal automation projects we deliver electric and automation systems for 50 to 100 cranes, to the major container ports in Europe, Asia and North America.
In a modern container terminal there are remotely controlled Ship-To-Shore cranes, which handle the loading/off-loading of the container ships. These are in the storage yard supported by stacking cranes, robotized cranes weighing hundreds of tons, which automatically move and with high precision stack the containers. The operation of all the cranes is controlled from a central control room in order to optimize the productivity of the terminal.
Tasks
We are currently looking for a software design engineer who wants a stimulating job in the fast growing market for automated crane systems. With us you will be active in an environment with world-class technology and in a position where you will have a broad responsibility within the project design phase. You will strive to meet on time deliveries and quality. You will be based in Västerås but the role will require some travels to our worldwide customers.
You will be designing the project specific automation system and concepts in our delivery projects. The work will provide you with a broad technical understanding and experience of having customer contact. As the software design engineer you will have central role in the project and will work close together with all parts of ABB Crane Systems, as well as with our customers

Qualifications
You have a Bachelor or Master of Science within electronics, engineering physics or computer science or you have extensive experience from programming and designing control systems. You need to be skilled in PLC programming for ABB systems or others and C++.
Extensive contacts with customers and team members require that you are fluent in English and Swedish. Knowledge of other languages is merit. Most important is that you have a strong personal drive and a will to continuously learn and advance your skills. You should be a strong communicator and have good collaboration skills.
