Vehicle infotainment systems contain a growing set of functionality, including entertainment, speech, navigation, connectivity/connected applications, driver information and vehicle functions, etc. Our daily work includes transforming ideas into innovations to meet the high standards of future vehicles. As we move into the future, the infotainment system becomes more of a virtualized super System on Chip connected to the car via an Ethernet backbone and to displays; center display, cluster display, heads-up windshield projection, etc., via high bandwidth display links.
As Software System Design Engineer, you will be part of a cross functional team together with driven program managers, software and hardware system designers and experts. Volvo Cars infotainment systems are developed jointly with partners as well as in-house. Your main task is to be responsible for the software development processes, specifications and coordination of software functionality development. You will work closely with partners and be part of an international team to secure the delivery of vehicle Infotainment systems to Volvo Cars vehicle programs.
Some travel may be required in this position ~10%
Main responsibilities
Plan, and coordinate software development in the area of infotainment platform and base concept technology as well as functional development
Drive technology innovation and coordinate software system specifications
Monitor partners and in-house software development and validation activities
Required qualifications
M.Sc. degree in engineering or a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
Experience from the automotive industry or the consumer market
Knowledge of Ethernet, LIN and display link communications
Driver's license
Fluent in English
Personal qualities
You have a high level of energy, you are self-going and a team player
You have excellent communication skills to match the demands of an international work environment
You are flexible, creative and like to find alternative solutions to solve upcoming problems
