Join us as Senior Scientist - Precise Genome Editing at our R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden.

We are looking for a Senior Scientist who have strong expertise in the competency of precise genome editing and mouse model generation. You will work primarily with mouse models and cellular engineering with opportunities to use primary and iPS cells. You will get the opportunity to devise, champion and develop scientific areas aligned with project needs. You will be an authority in the arena of in vivo science and precise genome editing, to lead this from a lab-based perspective and make significant contributions to the practical delivery of project goals. You will coach and support more junior scientists by advising and challenging them and by providing expert advice to aid interpretation of complex data. You will provide disciplinary scientific leadership and represent the department at internal interdisciplinary meetings in addition to external meetings and to publish novel science in high impact journals. You will also propose experimental strategies, troubleshoot problems and make significant contributions to the practical delivery of projects in compliance with AstraZeneca corporate responsibility policies and relevant safety standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• To design genome editing-based strategies and tools required to generate in vivo and in vitro reagents to create disease models
• To perform genetic screenings in vitro and in vivo using genome editing tools
• To develop delivery tools to improve the efficiency of in vivo genome editing
• To perform confirmation of genetic manipulation and functional validation of engineered animals
• To perform target validation studies in early projects

Essential Requirements
• You should have a Ph.D. degree or corresponding experience in a relevant scientific discipline with experience in drug discovery or, alternatively, a first degree and significant relevant experience in drug discovery.
• Good social and communication skills, be collaborative and an excellent team worker.
• Be able to work independently, take own initiatives and have a positive, goal oriented and problem solving attitude.
• Good organisational skills and to be comfortable in presenting your results.
• Excellent English, both spoken and in writing.

Highly Desirable Requirements
• Molecular biology expertise and manipulation of cell lines, mouse embryonic stem cells, primary and iPSC cells
• Expertise with generation and engineering of 3D cell structure, organoids and Microphysiological systems (MPS)
• Generation and use of viral vectors (lentivirus, AAV, Adenovirus) for in vitro and in vivo genetic engineering
• Functional characterization of gene modified mouse lines
• In silico analysis of genetic perturbation after genome editing
• Expertise with single cell omics
