This is a senior leadership position charged with developing and executing the IP strategy for Neonode. The job also entails other legal matters related to technology licensing and transfer pricing between Neonode's different business units. Specific responsibilities include:
• Developing and executing an IP strategy for Neonode
• Performing all facets of the patent development process, including invention disclosure, evaluation, patent application preparation and prosecution, grant, and annuities
• Performing all facets of trademark development process, including evaluation, trademark application preparation and prosecution, grant, and annuities
• Being the single point of contact on IP matters for the CEO and interacting with the Company IP Committee
• Drafting an IP budget and collaborating effectively with the CFO to monitor IP expenditures
• Collaborating effectively with the Company's engineers for preparing invention disclosures and patent applications
• Collaborating effectively with the Company's sales and finance staff for reviewing contracts, replying to patent-related inquiries from technology -licensing customers and other third parties, and replying to inquiries related to tax withholding and import-export taxation
• Collaborating effectively with the Company's marketing staff on patent, trademark and copyright marking and related matters
• Managing use by the Company of third-party software
• Working closely with and supervising outside patent and trademark counsel who are responsible for interfacing with Patent and Trademark Offices around the world
• Performing patentability searches and freedom to operate analyses
• Identifying products that infringe the Company's patents
There is no support staff for this position. The candidate is the entire IP department at Neonode.
About the Candidate
The successful candidate is expected to possess the following qualifications:
Proficiency in English
5+ years' experience in engineering including optical engineering and touch-based user interfaces
5+ years' experience in patent work
Demonstrated experience developing and executing an IP strategy in the fields of optics, electrical engineering, embedded systems and user interfaces
Demonstrated experience successfully supporting high technology clients
Experience in a corporate environment
Flexibility to accept new and different challenges in a fast paced, high tech environment
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
A positive attitude
A creative spirit
