The Corrosion department of RISE offers an attractive workplace and with about 100 researchers in corrosion it is one of Europe's leading corrosion research players with the mission to create Swedish industrial benefit through company-wide research.
In Sweden we are located in Kista (north of Stockholm) and Borås where we have large modern premises. In France, we have a wholly owned subsidiary focused on corrosion research.
About the job opportunity
You will be working as a Senior Researcher together with your experienced colleagues in the corrosion department in Kista. You will have a role as one of the department's corrosion specialists related to corrosion protection, with special focus on applications within organic coatings. This could include but are not limited to paint systems used for various industrial applications, for example the automotive industry, coil coated materials, biobased alternative resins, intelligent coatings, and issues related to release of microplastics from paints.
You will also be working together with your colleagues with a range of different research and development projects as well as carrying out shorter industrial consultancy projects in these fields. You will work closely with our industrial clients as well as other research entities, mainly in Sweden but also internationally. You will be given an independent role while being part of a research team with close collaboration with your colleagues.
You will be placed in Kista (Stockholm) in the unit vehicles and surface but you have the flexibility to work from home from time to time, if the work allows.
Who are you?
We are looking for skilled individuals that wants to make a difference. You have a university degree within material science, chemistry or engineering.
Advanced knowledge related to corrosion of organic coatings or knowledge in organic chemistry together with corrosion experience, with experience of industrial or research experience, is required.
You have a good theoretical understanding as well as interest and comprehension for laboratory work. We prioritize our customers and colleagues, so you should have a good ability to create working relationships with both. The job involves a lot of customer contact and therefore demands that you can express yourself clearly in English and preferably also Swedish, in both speaking and writing. As a person you are committed and driven, enjoy a high tempo environment and see solutions and opportunities rather than problems. You are well organized and have an interest in helping create new business and projects but also an ability to further develop existing ones.
An industrial background from the paint industry is especially welcomed. Knowledge of corrosion protection in general and experience using different analytical techniques and characterization methods of coatings is meritorious (for example AFM, DMA, DSC), as is research education (PhD).
Start date: January 2023 or according to agreement.
