About us
The marine group within The product durability unit is looking for a senior researcher / project manager who wants to develop the field of marine materials together with us. With our research and consultancies, we help the marine material sector transition to a more sustainable and resilient future. We focus on the environmental impact on and by materials in the marine environment, conduct research and assignments on the impact of the environment on the materials and the impact of the materials on the marine environment. If you want to be part of our development together with the industry and developing the regulations together with the public sector, this is the assignment for you.

About the role
With placement in Borås, Sweden, we are now looking for a senior researcher and project manager to the marine group within The product durability unit. The group consists currently of 4 people and has a strong focus on the impact of the marine environment on materials and the impact of materials on the marine environment. Among the fields the group is active within are multi load degradation, release of biocides and microplastics, electro chemistry, MIC, advanced material analysis etc. The position implies a mix of technical work, project management, business creation and applications for public funded projects. You will have an important role in defining, together with your colleagues, the group's strategic direction in terms of publicly funded research and commercial assignments. You will also have a tight collaboration with the other units of our department working in the marine material field, in Stockholm and Brest. The role also includes maintaining and building existing networks within the industry and the public sector, with a focus on initiating research projects and assignments, as well as building consortia and applying for public funds and projects.

Who are you?
You have a university degree and a solid background in the marine materials field, with a total experience of 10 years or more. Competence and experience from the paint industry is meritorious. You have experience and habit of working for or collaborating with industrial partners and understanding their needs. You are driven by business development and interdisciplinary collaboration. You also have knowledge of relevant regulations in the area. Experience of applying for and leading publicly funded projects is meritorious. You probably have a doctoral degree, but it is not a must.

To succeed in the role, you need to be communicative, a good listener, and enterprising. RISE has a unique position between academia and industry, combining technical and scientific excellence with industrial implementation, which requires the ability to communicate with all stakeholders.
