Take your next career step at ABB with a global team that is energizing the transformation of society and industry to achieve a more productive, sustainable future.
At ABB, we have the clear goal of driving diversity and inclusion across all dimensions: gender, LGBTQ+, abilities, ethnicity and generations. Together, we are embarking on a journey where each and every one of us, individually and collectively, welcomes and celebrates individual differences.
With us, you will play an instrumental role in developing new measurement concepts and algorithms for on-line sensors and pulp analyzers, where you will get the opportunity to take on challenges within physics, data analysis and programming. You will work closely with other disciplines such as embedded software developers, electronics designers, and mechanical designers.
You have a strong background in physics, either on a master's level or a PhD in a field relevant to measurement technology, with an emphasis on experimental work. You probably have a few years of working experience, ideally related to product development.
To thrive in this role, you should be curious and open-minded, and be comfortable in going from theoretical concepts to implementation and don't hesitate to delve into areas beyond your existing domain of expertise. You are willing to continuously re-evaluate your own ideas to ensure that a good enough solution reaches the market.
You have a solid understanding of resonators, ideally microwave cavity resonators. You find experiments intriguing and are not afraid to build your own mechanical setup to test your ideas, to conduct pre-studies early in the project phase.
Depending on your background the role can also be combined with software development for our software that runs on ARM architecture.
Your responsibilities
Conduct pre-studies to either improve our existing sensor technology or to find new ways of measuring properties important for paper- and pulp mills.
Algorithm development in Matlab or similar environment.
Physics and Multiphysics simulations, either by doing the work directly or by collaborating closely with external partners.
Implementation and test of the algorithms on prototypes.
Depending on background, application software implementation in C and C++.
4th line of support for bugs and problems from customers or internal contacts.
Monitor the technical advances within your area of expertise.

Your background
BSc or MSc degree in Applied Physics, Mechatronics, or similar with a few years of working experience.
Alternatively, a PhD in a field related to measurement technology also with a few years of working experience.
Experience in product development is meritorious.
Experience in using time- and frequency domain solvers for Microwave systems is a plus.
English is a must and Swedish is qualifying.
Experience in development on ARM architecture is to your advantage.
